Daresbury Park Hotel to host Cheshire’s first information day on autism

A TEAM of leading experts on autism has been assembled for Cheshire’s first information day on the disorder.

Organised by the Cheshire Aspergers Parents Support (ChAPS) group, the event, at Daresbury, is aimed at parents, carers and professionals in the field.

The main speaker will be Dr Luke Beardon, an educational psychologist who is senior lecturer in autism at Sheffield Hallam University. His topics will be the future needs of adults with autism and also the propensity for secondary psychiatric disorders.

Other workshop speakers include:

Chris Barsons, who in 2009 founded Positive About Autism, who will talk about how to develop a positive approach to difficult behaviours.

Dr Andrew Curran, a paediatric neurologist at Alder Hey Hospital who specialises in autistic spectrum disorder.
